Stark Future Joins the Lineup at Basecamp Motorsports Calgary
Electric power keeps rewriting what's possible off road, and Basecamp Motorsports is now home to one of the brands leading that charge. We're proud to announce we're an official Stark Future dealer, with the Varg MX 1.2 and Varg EX both available in our Calgary showroom.
Why Stark, and Why Now
Stark Future set out with a simple goal: build the fastest, most capable electric motocross bike in the world, then prove it. The Varg has backed that up on the biggest stages in the sport. Stark Future became the first electric manufacturer to win the FIM SuperEnduro Manufacturers World Championship, taking the title against a field of gas-powered machines built by some of the most established names in the industry. This isn't a novelty product. It's a race proven platform that happens to run on a battery instead of gas.
Meet the Varg MX 1.2 and Varg EX
Both bikes share the same core technology, just tuned for different terrain.
Varg MX 1.2
The Varg MX 1.2 is built for the track. It's motocross focused, stripped down, and tuned for maximum performance on a groomed course.
Varg EX
The Varg EX is the trail and adventure focused sibling. It's street legal, comes with a bright LED headlight for low light riding, and is set up for the kind of technical, unpredictable terrain you find out on the trail rather than a manicured track.
What they share:

Power fully adjustable from 10 to 80 hp, switchable on the fly through the handlebar controls.

No clutch and no gears, so power delivery is direct and immediate.

Crawl mode for creeping the bike forward or backward at walking speed, handy for tight spots or loading up.

Traction control, rolled out fleet wide this year through a free over the air update, that manages rear wheel slip and automatically backs off when the bike leaves the ground.

A 7.2 kWh battery good for up to six hours of trail riding or a full moto heat, depending on conditions.
Rylan from Basecamp Motorsports Takes Both for a Spin
We didn't just want to tell you about the Varg. We wanted to ride it. Basecamp's sales manager, Rylan, spent time on both bikes and came back with a full rundown.
On the power modes: "The power modes are probably one of my favourite parts. I had it around 40 to 50 hp most of the time and was having an absolute blast. 60 hp was fun, but definitely a little much for me in the wet conditions. Being able to change the power on the fly is so cool. Open sections? 50 to 60 hp. More technical stuff? Drop it down to 30 to 40 hp and keep going."
On traction control: "The traction control is insane. It makes such a difference climbing, especially when it's wet and slippery."
On riding without a clutch: "No clutch took a little getting used to, but it makes the bike so easy to ride. I also really liked having both brakes on the bars. It probably took me 20 to 30 minutes to get comfortable with it, but by the end I loved being able to keep my feet planted and control everything with my hands. Even when I had my leg out going into a right hand corner, I could still tap the rear brake."
His verdict: "I think I would be a better rider on this Stark than a conventional dirt bike, 100 percent."
