Preventative maintenance is always the best way to help keep your Sea-Doo running trouble-free, which is why we have created this winter checklist to make sure you perform the processes on your Sea-Doo properly.

Sea-Doo Spark winterization is important to ensure that it works properly when you’re out on the water next summer. It will also help extend your engine's life and other parts.

Clean the Jet Pump

When cleaning the jet pump, remove all dirt and debris from it. If there are any cracks in the jet pump housing or impeller housing, replace them immediately. If you notice any leaks coming from your jet pump when you winterize Sea-Doo Spark, this could be due to an issue with your fuel pump or carburetor. If this is the case, bring it to your Sea-Doo dealer in Calgary, AB.

Inspect the Jet Pump

The jet pump is an important component of your Sea-Doo Spark, so make sure it's clean before storing it over the winter. The jet pump houses a metal impeller and a plastic casing with an opening at one end that allows water to enter. Check for any damage or corrosion outside of this casing, which could cause leaks when in use.

Stabilize the Fuel System

Fuel lines contain small amounts of fuel that may leak into the water during storage. To prevent this from happening, disconnect any fuel hoses from your engine and drain any remaining fuel from them with a siphon or other tool. You can also add some gas stabilizer to help protect against corrosion if desired.

Replace Engine Oil and Filter

Replacing the oil and filter will ensure that the engine is protected from any debris or foreign matter that may have entered the system during the season. You should also check all hoses for cracks or leaks. If you find any cracks or leaks, replace them immediately!

Flush and Drain Exhaust System

When winterizing your Sea-Doo Spark, flush out all loose debris from the exhaust system before draining it. Also, ensure that all parts inside have been cleaned thoroughly! If there are any particles left behind, they could cause damage when you start up again next spring! You should also ensure no holes in pipes or fittings, which could lead to further problems down the road!

Internal Engine Lubrication

For maximum protection, use high-quality oil for marine engines. It's important to use the correct oil weight, so check your owner's manual or with your local dealer before using the wrong oil. If you're unsure what weight of oil you need, ask your friendly sea-doo dealer in Calgary, AB

Battery Care

If you've been out on the water recently and left your spark on for extended periods of time, then chances are it needs a fresh charge. You can also check the water level in each cell with a hydrometer to ensure enough distilled water inside each battery cell.

Hull and Body Cleaning

It’s important to clean off the hull and body of your Sea-Doo before storing it for winter. This will prevent corrosion, which can lead to leaks and other issues. Use a degreasing agent or soap and water solution to clean off any dirt or grime on your boat. Do this before you cover your boat to avoid trapping moisture inside your storage area after your Sea-Doo winterization.
